I have noticed through reading message boards and talking to friends that often while we are developing at times we are greatly affected by “the unknown.” Such as, for example, not knowing what changes are coming next, unknown spirit presences, etc. Some times the unknown are things in our daily life such as not knowing whether husband and wife will be able to work their problems out and stay together or will divorce. Often the unknown can cause great anxiety which in turn can effect whether we can sleep, eat, focus, or just function normally in general.
Often when i am feeling anxiety or feeling anything for that matter that I don’t understand what the cause of it is I talk to my guides about it. I know that they will let me know one way or the other what is going on with me or simply a sign of whether there is even any real reason to even be feeling anxious.
So today was one of those days and I was talking to my guide about it when suddenly a dragonfly flew by…but on his way by he stop dead in his tracks (so to speaks) and hovered almost perfectly still in front of my patio screen door as though he stopped specifically to say hi to me. That I can honestly say has never happened before. Then in case I wasn’t paying attention my dog started acting weird and at the same time I heard my printer turn on. When it turns on its pretty loud so there is no mistaking it because the device inside it slides over when the power button is pushed. It’s a large Dell 5 in 1 printer with a flat bed scanner…so it is fairly large too. I went over and checked it but the printer was off. Well my guides make noises all the time when I am talking to them so I am use to it so I knew right away that was just to make sure I knew the dragonfly was in fact a symbol for me and not just a coincidence (which I don’t beleive in coincidences anyway).

Why This Makes Sense to Me
Last night I couldn’t sleep even though I was so tired. Every time I closed my eyes I would immediately start seeing things and having visions. Every time I did manage to doze off I would immediately start dreaming and for some reason disturbing to me like a nightmare is disturbing although nothing about what I was seeing should have bothered me. But I would just let the visions come. I kept stopping them because like I said for some reason they were freaking me out. Right before I saw the dragonfly I was talking to my guide about the visions and why I kept stopping them and the unexplained anxiety I had been feeling.

To me there are two messages here for me.
One is about change. Yes I am going through lots of changes in many different ways and aspects of my life.
The other message for me is an answer. The question was…I told my guide that I know I kept stopping the visions instead of just going with the flow and letting them come. I asked for another chance to do this because I have been stopping visions from coming like I did last night for some time now and for the same reason. Something would make me feel uncomfortable and uneasy. Same thing that use to happen when I first started hearing spirit voices outside my head when I was in the inbetween awake and asleep state. So this is my confirmation that we will be trying this again, if not tonight then very soon. lol.

The color makes me think that you are being told to stay grounded and down to earth relating to potential changes…not to say that change is coming but that the potential for things is always present. Also the dragonfly is about the subconscious and tells us to pay attention to deeper thoughts…this makes me ask the question have you considered the possibility that you thought of him because it was procognition at work. My precognition works in that way among others…I think you then saw the dragonfly because spirit is trying to point out to you your precognitive abilities that maybe you have been overlooking. What do you feel about what I have said? What does your discernment tell you about what I have said? You literally have the answer to this within you. Realization may be key to a transformation for you.

I was sitting outdoors at a restaurant, alone and relaxed reading the wine list. A large golden dragonfly with gold wings landed on the corner of the menu. It sat there for a good 2 minutes. I was mesmerized by it’s golden colors. I had never seen anything like it. Then it lifted off the menu and landed on my left hand. Inches away from my face, it’s large eyes staring right into mine. like it knew me or was trying to communicate. The he lifted off and flew away.
I recently broke up with a man I had been deeply in love with for seven years. I now live with my ex raising our 11 year old son. It has been hell. Everyday I cry and every night I pray. Everything is a symbol to be read and taken into consideration. It was in your car and in the back seat versus the front. In a nutshell it seems that it is saying that if you do not get control and stop taking of back seat to things that are happening in your life change/transformation will still happen but you may not like the way it happens. What I mean by that is that of course you can always make the decision to change or change can happen to you. It is like the person that really needed to moved but ignored all the signs and then a flood or fire forced them to make a change anyway. Sure they could have taken the signs and move and that would have been easier on them that the flood or fire.

i was walking near a beach today and between 20 and 30 dragonflies started flying near me. what does this mean?

I’m in desperate need of strong guidence because there are a great numerous amount of changes that I am going through all at once I recently ended a bad relationship I am now a single parent of a beautiful one year old boy I’m taking college courses and am working as an intern for a great company though struggling to maintain my household finances I am putting alot of faith in god that he will help me out of this valley now for the last couple of weeks i’ve notice that there has been a huge golden dragonfly that has been following me around ever since I started going through all of this caious its so huge that anytime i see it i roll up my windows fast so that it wont enter my vehicle last night i nor my son were able to sleep and once i finally decided to dose off a male voice spoke into my ear scaring me half to death that i didnt want to sleep for the rest of the night why is all of this happening to me I feel like i might be losing my mind and im completly in the dark not knowing who to turn too so im hoping you might understand what it is exactly that im going through and if so please guide me in the correct path thank you godbless
You were previously at a stand still that was not good. Before ending your relationship you were not moving along your path although it may have not been noticeable to you. Ending or getting out of a relationship that did not give balance or caused embalance cause the way to be clear. The dragonfly symbolizes that a wonderful change is taking place because you removed something from your life that was not in balance with you. Actually although things may be tough you are doing the right thing and it is you who are in control of creating your reality. Just don’t make the mistake of waiting for God to smooth things out…we have freewill and there is no stepping in done but universal laws are in your favor and so any good vibes you are putting out in the course of your day to day will come back to you in wonderful ways of course. It is all up to you…just stay positive and keep revisiting a visual in your mind of what kind of life you want to create for yourself and know that it will come. Everything is actually great…you made an awesome step…a wonderful breakthrough and the dragonfly is letting you know in a big way…more wonderful things are coming to you.

I wonder, everytime a dragonfly enters my house, I feel bad. Then problems are manifested. Do you have any ideas why this is so?
It seems that for you the dragonfly is being used to send to you as a kind of “heads up” symbol. Your sign that something is coming and to stay grounded and ready for it so you can handle it better. Also the dragonfly most likely is your animal guide/totem. I would suggest doing some reading on the dragonfly…learn more about your friend.

Thank you for all of these, Sherry. I talked to the dragonfly spirit and accepted that the dragonfly is my totem. I’ve never had such peaceful sleep after that. I can always remember as a child that dragonflies were really close to me, hovering over me, and making my heart leap whenever they are around. It’s just that when I realized it became an unfailing sign to me of coming things that I dreaded seeing damselflies and dragonflies in my house.

Hello. I found your post doing some research about the dragonfly symbolism and thought it was very interesting. Today I decided to take a walk in my driveway and as I was walking I noticed this dragonfly kept swarming around me, not too close but I noticed it only flew around me and in my direction as I walked up an down the driveway. This went on the whole time I was outside, which was a good 30 minutes. I thought this was weird because usually if an insect swarms around you it will eventually leave and fly away. At times it flew right above me as I walked and flew off then came back again. It was like it never left my vicinity. I know the dragonfly symbolizes change but do you have any other suggestions of what this could mean?
I just witnessed a dragonfly die right in front of me, and I looked up dragonfly symbology and what’s interesting was I was planning on cleaning out my closets and decluttering today. Something this packrat has been avoiding for a very long time!
Today is Dia de los Muertos (Day of the dead) here in Mexico, popular belief says that today the souls of those who have passed away come to visit, and some indigenous cultures believe that souls take the form of butterflies; and indeed, there’s an “explosion” of butterflies these days in here, all types, all colors. I had never payed attention, but today I was on the roof fixing something and I noticed 4 butterflies flying in the neighbors garden, I was looking at them in amazement when suddenly I saw a golden-brown dragonfly flying in my direction, it stopped at a small metal thing that’s on my roof, it stayed there for almost 5 minutes, I got near and it didn’t move, I even touched one of its wings with my finger and it stayed there; I was able to look at it in detail, its colors, its wings, even its eyes before it finally flew away. This is really meaningful to me because I lost a really good friend 10 days ago and also my mom and aunt have passed away. So all I can say is thank you for remembering me and paying me a visit, I miss you a lot. I got down, looked for the meaning of dragonflies and found your wonderful article. I’m very happy
Hello just reading your website about dragonflies. My mother passed away Sept. 27, 2011 and in a video I made with pictures, etc. I included a beautiful dragonfly and also have a picture of my mother in a frame with a dragonfly on it. I was on a boat far out from land when a dragonfly flew up to me and began to fly away, then came back two feet in front of me..like to say hello. It was strange and even my friend thought the same thing. A week ago I had put a rug outside on my patio to dry and when I went to get it there I found a bright green dragonfly. The dragonfly flew to the fence inches away and stood their while I took pictures close up and admired very closely. I finally had to go, unknown how long it stayed. Now today, I was at work in the hospital cafeteria when a dragonfly came flying towards me then flying in the area until someone caught it and took it outside. I find it strange that I’ve had dragonflies around me lately. I thought…could this possibly have something to do with my mother?

I had a dream I was a white dragonflying mating with somebody I really really like who’s gone away for a few wks on holiday. We’ve been dating a little for the past few months, relationships scare the both of us, I even suggested to be f buddies do I don’t fall for him but he dsnt want that and said its more than that as he really likes me. . He also said he couldn’t bear the thought of me being with somebody else, yet we’re not together tho. I’m just wondering what my dream signifies. We were both white draginflys mating together so calmly and peacefully like it was so natural. Then I jumped up out of my sleep and that was that. Relationships scare you but how old are you because I am getting the feeling you are young. Dragonflies stand for transformation and their being two of you the two has to do with duality, ying yang, etc. White stands for purity or something new. Dragonflies ask that we pay attention to deeper thoughts and desires and remember that there are lessons to be learned, meaning remember that it is about what you learn from the experiences. Yeah you may be thinking of just a casual relationship but there is always the lessons to be learned which is the more important purpose. Also note that the lifespan of the dragonfly is short so possibly pointing to a short relationship.

I went outside this morning (Saturday) to check the weather before my run and as I stood there, a big beautiful dragonfly flew directly at me and landed on my stomach and stayed there for awhile then flew away. In my 60 years, I have never had this happen to me.
Interestingly enough, I have been struggling with a potential career change. My head is telling me to stay with my current job as it is lucrative (as I do have some debt – new truck loan and new mortgage) but my heart is telling me that I should accept the nomination where my community might elect me as a leader (and this is not lucrative job), but I will be working directly with and for my indigenous people.
I have to make this decision of whether I will let my name stand in this election by Monday, July 9th and I have been struggling with this.
I have a question…I recently lost my very close friend, within the first week of her passing Butterflies and Dragonflies are all over my yard I have never seen so many dragonflies in one area..I look around at everyone elses yards and there are none..We took a walk around the neighborhood and they literally followed us…My dear friend loved butterflies, and I feel that she is checking on us and that explains the unusually amount of butterflies, but what about the dragonflies? Hi. This morning walking to my car I saw a brownish dragonfly hovering around my car. There were multiple cars parked next to me and around me but it was over my car only. I found it strange but kept walking toward then ran into my car (I’m not a big fan of insects) in any case, it still hovered over my car n close to my window as I pulled out of the parking lot. Then during the course of the day an old work acquaintance posted a picture of a huge translucent dragonfly that landed inside his car in the front passenger side. Didn’t think much of it but as I got home this evening

So I have just recently become aware of the presence of Dragonflies in my life. Well, dragonfly to be exact. For the past three weeks I have been visited by the same Dragonfly. I started noticing it at work. Whenever I would get to work and park my car it would always be on the hood. It would circle my car a couple of times and then leave for a second and come right back. This happened for a couple of mornings. Then one day as I was coming home from work, I saw it again as I was parking my car in front of my apartment. The dragonfly is very distinct so I just know it’s the same because it is very large and a muddy kind of orange. I started getting curious about it, but it is what happened to me tonight that really set me off. I was at work and a coworker of mine started yelling. I looked and the dragonfly was inside of the building! I thought it was crazy! Then I went to talk about it with one of my coworkers and as I started talking about it I looked to my left and it flew right past me, like it knew I was talking about it.
So from my experience I feel like I’m being screamed at! I just don’t know what type of sign I’m supposed to be following or what in my life needs to be addressed further.
My son and I was in a drive tru and a dragonfly (golden) color landed on his car and flew away, a couple seconds later another one different color, flew in his car and ended up going down in the crack between the windshield and dashboard. Hi, I wanted to share my experience today which I thought was so strange. When I woke up this morning and was going to get in my car I saw this dragonfly and I felt so strange because it has been about 10 years or more I haven’t seen one. I drove to my son’s babysitter’s house to drop my son off and there it was again. I was totally shocked to see it again, I thought it was a different one at first but it looked the same. I got in my car again and drove to a coffee shop and there it was again. There I realize it was trying to tell me something. I really think it was magical in a way. Not to mentioned a couple of days ago I was about to go in my house and there was a green grasshopper. I really think they are trying to tell me something and I feel it’s something very positive.
Magical…I think of people seeing fairies and unicorns as magical but I understand because you realize for you how unique this is and couldn’t miss the sign you were being sent because you hadn’t seen one in a long time and then it seemed to keep showing up every where you went. Transition…something is in transtion. Some times it is something subtle like that we are getting ready to or are in the middle of a shift of some kind or a move from one phase of our lives to another. The answer lies within your own life and what is going on…what is the message/sign of transition pointing to that you have going on in your life?

I guess I’m relieving my younger years. Your were right short lived it was, but I just wasn’t ready for something full term and I ended it. Not just incase I got hurt, but more so after being with someone for 7yrs and then realising u don’t love them

This was what I picked up…the energy I felt said young…felt young and that right cause I am 46…so makes sense why I picked up “Young.” Compared to my age…yeah I think that’s young…but my son at 8 might pick up your energy as feeling old to him…for where he is at right now at 8 years old the energy he feels he is gonna think your old…but if he picks you up as being a fun playful person then your energy is gonna feel really young to him and he is going to feel like you are closer to his age. lol. I have friends that when he sees them drive or do something else very adult he is shocked by because to him their energy says young like he is and then he sees then drive a car and is really shocked. It is funny the way the energy we pick up and what reality is…how that translates to us.
7 years is a long time however most important to focus on is what were you suppose to learn from that relationship. What does it matter how long or short if you didn’t get out of it what you were suppose to…which would be okay cause we often do that…we learn a little but maybe not everything and all the lessons the relationship held for us. So forget about how long…tell me what were you suppose to learn from the relationship…what lesson was it suppose to give you. Did you stay in it too long you think? Why? What held you back from making a decision sooner to get out of it?

i was in a room with my daughter and niece when a white dragonfly landed on my finger (right hand) it didn’t rest comfortably but was somehow stuck on me as i could feel it pull away but not go anywhere. i told my daughter to take a picture and she took 3; the 1st, i couldn’t see the dragonfly at all, the 2nd, i could see it glowing and fluttering its wings, the 3rd, it had turned into a butterfly, also glowing, i then noticed there was a glow coming from my daughters belly .. dream ends ..

I found a dead dragonfly at my feet as I stepped on to the path at my front gate today around 4pm.I noticed the date this was started Sherry was october 3 2008. My birthday is october 3. I brought it inside. A dragonfly communicated with me a year ago.It brought me to tears,but then I was going thru a very traumatic time then so I was emotional.I found myself replying, but later I forgot it all. its been almost a year since my daughter transitioned. Shortly after while planning for her homegoing celebration two dragonflies mating hovered momentarily right outside my car window. Since then I have seen mutiple dragonflies mating and single ones to what are they trying to tell me.
In a very vivid dream last night, the dragonfly or demon (not sure) picked me up, flew through the sky, dropped me in water, then proceed to eat me alive one limb at a time. I may be in the wrong forum. The creature was man like with huge wingspan had piranha teeth. I cannot go back to sleep!
Water points to the emotions. How are your emotions? Do you mostly stay in a good emotional state? Because the dream is telling you you will be eaten alive by something that looks like man but also has the properties of the dragonfly which are about change and transformation. That is true because the negative energy that is created by the emotions we deal with is man created…crates things from the negative energy that is not good and then effects us negatively. The dream may have been disturbing because your higher self is trying to get your attention probably because this is important and you need to not ignore this. Don’t worry just ponder how your emotions have been and then set a goal to stay in a calm and up beat state as much as possible. Any change, improvement, you make no matter how small will be a good start.
What if this doesn’t point to that? It is possible, and you would know, that the dream could be trying to warn you about someone in your life or someone you will be dealing with soon. Still with the water and being eaten alive once in it points to negative emotions so yes possible that you will get into it with someone and they will cause you to loose your cool to the point where the negative emotions you send out will be harmful to yourself. You will know if that is what the dream is telling you because you know your self, your own life and what is going on in it…so you will be able to say what the dream is telling you of the two possibilities. Is there someone in your life that represents change in your life or some up coming change you are going to be making such as someone you have decided to marry, live with or some employers job you have accepted and are going to be starting soon?
Sleep and dream and you can get more insight into this. Don’t be scare…be the dream warrior that uses it to your advantage like an ability.
Today I was speaking with a co-worker about ghost. He stated he didn’t believe, fine. I told him of my odd encounters as a kid & one I had a few yrs ago. Well later that morning while sitting outside a dragonflies appeared. He buzzed around a & then landed on my bag. This was repeated several times until he fluttered away. I was wondering is this the spirits way of saying we are here?
Makes sense…but maybe not in the way you are thinking. Dragonflies symbolize deeper thoughts….deeper levels of consciousness. Possibly the dragonfly is asking that you don’t do what your co-worker is doing and instead continue to be that person who thinks at deeper levels and hence has the chance for change that will continue to advance you spiritually. That belief you have, that you ponder, is a wonderful part of you. Do not lose it…let the dragonfly guide you.

Hello Ms. Sherry, I would really appreciate your insight. For many years now I have been trapped in an verbally/emotionally abusive relationship. I have been doing a great deal of spiritual work around release, strength, freedom, etc and during that time I have had a number of “strange” animal happenings. They almost always come in groupings, below is a list
group 1
the hummingbirds – 20 to 30 visits
the coyote – a visit at work, in the parking garage
the blue herons – 2 flew over my car, clearance of maybe 3 feet
the crows – ever present, they caw softly when I come outside, when I am inside they follow my from room to room and watch through the window. I feed them now (from time to time) and they know my car/are usually waiting for me when I get home from work
the deer – two doe and a fawn crossing the street
group 2
the owl – flew over my head, clearance of about 6ft
a few more hummingbirds – one in particular that hovered at eye level for about 30 seconds a few feet from me before, sort of checking me out
continued visits from my crow pals
the dragonfly – in my garage, almost dead, held in my hand and then it passed away
the hummingbird – dropped out of the sky in front of me (deceased)
the finch – dropped out of the sky in front of me wounded (at work), passed away before I could get them help
To give a little context, my work and home are in highly populated areas, I live in the suburbs. I try not to mention these events to anyone as they seem so out of the ordinary. Each event has occurred while I am alone.
The owl, dragonfly, dead hummingbird and dead finch have all occurred in the past 5 to 7 days. I buried the ones that passed and said a prayer to Great Spirit honoring them & always thanking for the sign/gift.
I am ashamed to admit that I have prayed for release from my relationship in any form (yes, including death of another). Even leaving would not mean freedom as I know this person well enough to know that there will never be peace. I humbly request your interpretation of these events.

Hi…you have to remember that you do work, not the work is done for you. You can ask and ask for a release from a situation but we have free will which means spirit, God, etc can’t interfere. You are the one that has to make choices and take action. Death signifies an end but also a beginning because life is continuous. Often death of something signifies end to an old situation and the beginning of a new one. Death is often feared by many. Possibly when courage is found and then death of something is not feared so much then a moving forward can happen and then that is when you can experience the new coming in. Basically, as long as you stay your situation continues but if you create your own reality by making choices and decisions about your relationship and whether you choose to stay in it or get out of it then there can be change. Change cannot be idly wished for but must be created by the making of choices and decisions. As long as we sit on the fence not making a decision things just stay the same…there is no moving forward or backward…just no moving at all. A stalemate of sorts. This also means your spiritual advancement is at a stand still as well, but you can get things going anytime you choose to.
To understand the meaning of the animals you must look into the meaning at the time you see them. Once the time has passed it is difficult because you would also have to understand what is going on in your life at the time, that day, what you had been thinking about, etc. From now on when you see an animal that you think is a message it is at that time, or at least that day, you need to look up the meaning of that animal and see if it relates to something going on in your life or what you have been thinking about. After reading the meaning ponder what it might it be telling you. Are you being told what you need more of, or how you need to be, or what you need less of in your life, etc.
